On December 27, 2019, Shenzhen Toploong Technology Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Housheng Fumin Data Technology Co., Ltd. jointly released a new independently developed eyeball55 FPGA chip at the Tongying Intercontinental Hotel in Sanlitun, Beijing, and showcased the edge X HPC equipped with the AI chip, the first AIOT information device - eyeM5 5500 FPGA. The multi industry computing solution based on AI self-developed chips and a technological ecosystem has made its debut in China for the first time.

Lin Guowen, Chief System Architect of Housheng Fumin Data Technology Co., Ltd., summarized the current development trend of AI chips at the press conference. He stated that the explosive growth of data poses a severe test to the computing ability of devices. Previously, low energy and high consumption CPUs/GPUs were already difficult to succeed, and there was an urgent need for new system platforms to support AI algorithms and applications. The new generation of eyeM5 information devices using this chip are equipped with the autonomous architecture of Zhongxiangmi Linux OS operating system, which supports no hard drive startup and has significant advantages of high computing power and low energy consumption. Each device only consumes 1.92 kilowatt hours of electricity per day, equivalent to 5% of the same computing power GPU devices, undoubtedly significantly reducing costs and increasing gross profit margin. Meanwhile, the ultra-high energy efficiency ratio eliminates the need for fans to actively dissipate heat, further reducing noise intrusion.

Regarding product advantages, Zhang Binglu, Sales Director of Shenzhen Toploong Technology Co., Ltd., added that FPGAs represented by eyeM5 have unparalleled advantages over traditional GPU computing devices in terms of energy efficiency ratio, profit margin, product warranty, etc. At the same time, they also provide services such as operation and maintenance room technology, near unmanned management, automatic warning, and ETC algorithm software upgrade.

Taking the production scenario of the Eyeball55 single chip product as an example, with a power consumption of only 60W, it can achieve a maximum of 330Mh/s computing power, which is equivalent to the eight card Nvidia P104 GPU computing device. However, the latter has a power consumption of up to 1650W, which not only poses challenging issues such as heat dissipation and noise, but also consumes nearly 5700 yuan in annual electricity bills. However, the annual electricity consumption of the EyeM5 is only about 430 yuan, indicating an extremely high return rate and low operation and maintenance costs.

In addition, the differentiated product form of edgeX will meet the production needs of different industrial application scenarios and customers. Zhang Binglu said that edgeX products currently include three types: one computer with one card, one computer with four cards, and ultra-thin desktop.
